Making West Village Studio Living Possible and Chic

A West Village studio, built in 1875 and used as a psychiatrist's office for the last 20 years, was in much need of a deep gut.  Starting with the ceiling falling in, no real kitchen, and a bathroom worse than most dorms, the transformation to a modern studio was a blast to watch unfold.  Every inch was thoughtfully designed to create more storage, bring in more light, and boost the living space.

Swapping One Historical Bathroom for Another

We began our bathroom renovation journey with an authentic but highly impractical bathroom with a faucet in an antique cupboard and dimly lit sconces.  The finished product features silver serpent legs salvaged from a Newport mansion, a slab of 200 year old antiqued marble from a Portland oceanfront estate, and all the modern fixtures, lighting, and plumbing in matching style.

A Bathroom Refresh

This bathroom went from drab to full of life, as the center of a family home in the bathroom reserved for the kids and guests.  Hand painted florals brightened up the beige interiors, while custom made linen curtain provided privacy.
